Its also one of the most comfortable Netbooks and contains a large spacious keyboard. Due to its size however, the Asus 1008HA has had to compromise on some features – the ram and hard drive cannot be removed without difficulty. While this will not pose too much of a problem for the casual user, those who regularly upgrade their hardware will immediately be put off this laptop despite its beauty.

- Look at the elegance of its glossy finish and carefully rounded edges and there’s no doubt its one of the most beautiful Netbooks on the market today.
- Its thin size and sleek design have coined it the “Netbook version” of the Apple Air book which was often sold for $1900 on release; that is nearly $1500 more than the Asus “Seashell” was sold for on release.

Asus 1008HA Netbook Review – Drawbacks and things to keep in mind
- While it does have a standard 1024 x 600 resolution, the glossy surface on the screen means that you will find the Asus 1008HA difficult to use in rooms with bright lights.
- The trackpad (touch pad) may also cause a potential problem for users. Although it is very responsive, you will notice immediately on the Asus that the trackpad (touchpad) is single buttoned and sways left and right.
- The ASUS 1800HA also only has two USB ports which is probably not enough.
- Also, there is a nonstandard mini video port - you’ll have to carry around a small-VGA dongle with you if needed.
- While the three-cell internal Lithium Polymer battery allows for 5-6 hours of usage on the go this might not be enough and the battery is not changeable so you cannot carry around a replacement battery.
- You cannot remove the hard drive or the ram without great difficulty.

- Price and Value for Money: 1 star. A bonus 1 star for looking great at such a low price (relatively).
- Speed and Performance: 1 star.
- Screen: .5 stars. The glossy screen is an issue.
- Keybaord, Touchpad, Usability: 1 star. Large and Spacious keyboard. Touchpad is not ideal though.
- Portability and Battery Life: 1 star. Great battery life for such a thin netbook. Light and thin means great portability.
- Looks and Design: 1 star. One of the best looking netbooks. Bonus 1 star.
- Extensibility and Connectivity: .5 stars. Not very extensible. Good connectivity.
Overall Asus 1008 Ha Rating: 6 stars out of 7. Strongly Recommended – get it at Amazon for $415.

Asus 1008HA Netbook Review – Our Recommendation
Overall we recommend the Asus 1008HA for all casual Netbook users - it is a brilliant and well rounded laptop in comparison to others. It contains all the essentials. In terms of comfort, usability, portability, looks and elegance it’s one of the top netbooks around. It does have the drawback of a non-changeable battery and rather difficult extensibility.
Overall, the Asus 1008HA is brilliant value for money and a fantastic investment at $415.98.
