ASUS 1201T – cheaper version at $390
The ASUS 1201N is an extremely popular netbook because of its nVidia graphics platform, which nudges its performance ahead of peers. ASUS has now come out with the 1201T, which is sold at Newegg for just under $390. There are a few differences between them which justify the price differential, prime amongst them, being the absence of an operating system. Now while this may be a problem for most people and they’ll end up shelling out the differential on an OS, tech geeks will be overjoyed because there are now a few decent free ones floating around.
The 1201T has a better processor, the AMD Athlon Neo MV-40, as compared to the 1201N’s N330 Intel Atom. It also has a smaller 160GB hard drive, no HDMI output or Bluetooth. Aside from that, they look identical, featuring the same keyboard and touchpad.
