ASUS at it again – fold/unfold your netbook!
ASUS really created a giant impact with its uber-small netbooks way back in October 2007. Since that day, netbooks have sold like hotcakes and everyone wants a piece of the pie. Even non-notebook makers like Nokia have gotten in on the action.
So what does ASUS go and do. They whip out a new innovation – the ASUS Airo. Now this one’s been talked of before and was supposed to be out for release before the end of this year, but duh! It got delayed. We don’t think this is going to go the way of the flying car though (reports of Micheal Jackson flying one appeared in newspapers across the globe in 1994, with the forecast that come 2000 we’d be flying around in the sky Star-Wars style).
So down to technicalities. What ASUS is proposing to do is have a netbook that has an extendable keyboard and trackpad. Which means we’ll all be typing away to glory on full-size boards and comfortably large pads, but still have tiny-as-hell netbooks!
But this ain’t gonna come cheap. This sweet little netbook will probably set you back upwards of $1000, which is a lot more than you’ll pay for a normal one. But, we feel that once this actually does get released every other netbook maker is going to piggyback it and we may find prices settling down after a few months.
While we’re looking forward to this with great anticipation, we advise people to not be the first ones to jump onto the Airo bandwagon. Keep watching this space for updates.
