ASUS Seashell 1008P to feature Intel Pineview processor
It’s been almost a year since the release of the ASUS 1008HA. That Seashell model had generated a lot of interest with its super-sleek and sexy design, and it really showcased ASUS’s creative prowess.
The successor to the 1008HA – the 1008P is arriving shortly from ASUS, with some significant upgrades and tweaks. The stunning Seashell design is still intact, and the only change will be the cover designs; criss-crossed panelling in pink and brown.
There’s a bit of an overhaul when it comes to the interiors and a couple of other elements. The keyboard of the 1008HA was a standard one and disappointed. The 1008P will feature chiclet style boards, meaning more efficient typing. The battery which was earlier unreplaceable will now be slide-out.
One of the most significant changes though is that the 1008P will be powered by Intel’s new generation of Atom processor – Pineview. This means better graphics than the previous models, but we’ll find out by just how much only a little later. The Pineview processor will be powered with 1.8GHz instead of 1.66GHz. Additionally, the ASUS 1008P will feature Windows 7 out of the box and a new VGA port powered by mini-USB.
The other specs are standard – a 160GB HDD, 1 GB of RAM, a 10.1″ screen, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth. This one will be available in January.
