The keyboard and trackpad are top-of-the-line, and the display is crisp and colorful. The OS is the spanking new Windows 7. Add in ASUS’s excellent customer service and we have our winner. Best Business Netbook – HP Mini 5101
Hp have pretty much cornered this niche with the Mini 5101 specifically tailored to the business use. It looks great and is made out of aluminium and magnesium alloy. There is a 7200 Rpm HDD or SSD instead of the normal 5400 and it makes a difference. There are a lot of nice features like hard drive protection, a spill resistant keyboard and a pre-installed business suite (Corel Home Office). The connectivity is great with Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G options.
Available on amazon for $386. Read the full review here.
Best Student Netbook – Samsung GO N310
The GO 310 is a super fun netbook from Samsung that’s perfect for students. It’s got a unique pebble look, and the rubberized service is very easy to grip. The keyboard is great and students can type easily and fast. The battery life is about 9 hours, lasting you right through a busy classload, and if you forget a charger somewhere! Only downside is this model works on the Windows XP operating system, but that makes it quite affordable.
The Samsung GO N310 is available on amazon for $299.99

Best Kids Netbook – ASUS Disney Netpal
This one’s easy. The ASUS and disney themed netpal is pretty much the only netbook out there that is completely oriented towards kids under 12. ASUS has taken care of the netbook specs and design, whereas Disney has done the interface, and they together they pull off a nice job. The Netpal has disney-themed characters, icons and access to a special section of the Disney website with loads of fun interactive games.
Available on amazon for $344.99 in pink and blue. Read our full review here.
Best Gaming Netbook – Acer Ferrari One FO200
What matters when your choosing a gaming netbook is a decent processor that can transfer data quickly and a quality graphics card that uses this data to render the images. A lot of netbooks have figured out one side of this equation, but not the other one. Stiff competition to the Acer Ferrari One will be the MSI U230, which should release early 2010. Under the Acer Ferrari One’s hood is a 1.2GHz AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core processor, the ATI Radeon 3200 graphics card and 4GB of RAM. The processor clock speed on an Atom processor gives about half the computing power of an AMD Athlon. This one’s a bit pricey though.
The Acer Ferrari One FO200 is available on amazon for $599.99 in racing red!
Best Splurge Netbook – Sony Vaio X
If you don’t have a budget, the Sony Vaio X looks extremely enticing. It’s a beautiful netbook with sharp, sleek lines. And it weighs only 1.5lbs! That’s half the weight of a lot of netbooks out there. It comes with a standard battery plus a replacement (combined weight of 2.2lbs) which means that the X is powered up for a mind boggling 15 hours. And did I mention, it’s made out of super-sexy, lightweight carbon-fibre. This is the perfect netbook for the jet-setting CEO. Or someone who has a lot of cash to blow :).
The Sony Vaio X is available on the Sony network for $1299.99
Well, happy shopping!
