Radio Shack is offering the LG X120 for a really low price until the 24th of December. The X120 is one of the older netbook models and has very average specs – a 10.1 inch display, 1 GB of RAM and a 160GB HDD. It’s a nice looking netbook and weighs in at 2.8lbs.
But there’s a catch – the netbook is part of a wireless connection deal with 2 years of service. We picked up on this deal at blastmagazine.com, but couldn’t verify it on Radio Shack’s website. You’ll need to confirm this with your local store.
Is it worth it?
We’ve mentioned how we’re not particularly fans of subsidized netbook deals before, but we’ll get into the math again. So you pick up this netbook for $50. Good deal you say, but what you don’t figure in are the hidden internet costs that are going to keep hitting you every month. We’ll be generous and assume that this amount is $40, which still works out to $960 over the course of 2 years. So you’re actually paying a $1000 for this combination.
Now, its also not a very up-to-date model of netbook, and if you’re interested in those sort of things we’d recommend you suck it up and pay $300-350 and get a nice Windows 7 machine. If on the other hand, you want a mobile internet connection and the LG X120 is the sweetener to that deal, go ahead and snap it up.
