Lenovo Skylight Smartbook Pictures & Video
The year 2010 may be the year that we see smartbooks making their mark, with over 20 brands expected to release some form of this device.
The Lenovo Skylight is the first Smartbook from one of the “global players”, which will be introduced at CES next week. We’ve managed to find out only some snippets about it, but found quite a few photos of this sexy looking machine. The Skylight will cost a dear $499 and run on the 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon platform. It will feature inbuilt WiFi and 3G (probably on AT&T). The battery life is expected to be only 10 hours, after we heard claims that the Skylight would run all day long.
The price seems to us to be a little out of whack with market realities, and we don’t think this product can be successful at that pricing. It will need to cost a maximum $300 if it is to become truly popular.
Update:
The Lenovo Skylight has a 10 inch screen with a 1280 x 720 resolution, 20GB flash storage, 8GB miniSD card, and 2GB storage space in the cloud. It also features 1 .3Mp webcam and the battery will last about 10 hours.
And some words from the people at Lenovo:
“The web has become the window to the world for more and more people, helping them connect with friends and family across town or thousands of miles away,” said Peter Gaucher, executive director, Mobile Internet Product Management, Lenovo.
“Skylight combines the long battery life and connectivity of a SmartPhone with the full web browsing and multimedia experience of a netbook to create one of the first devices in this developing Smartbook category. Consumers want choices. They can now choose from a full portfolio of Lenovo mobile consumer devices including netbooks, Smartbooks and laptops.”
The Skylight will be available in the US from April and in Europe and China later on in the year.
