New ASUS netbook models: 1015P, 1016P and 1018P

ASUS is on a roll. They’ve consistently sold more netbooks than anyone else, from their 1005HA models to the sleekly designed 1008HA to the graphics friendly 1201N. And that was just their first generation. This year they released the 1005PE and designer 1008P – both very successful.

Now, we’ve received indications of three new models which are to be unveiled at the upcoming CeBIT in Hannover, Germany. The CeBIT is a large tradeshow for information and communication technology. Foremost amongst its impending releases seems to be the aluminum bodied 1018P. We’ve heard that it will be just 0.7 of an inch thick and be the very first netbook to offer USB 3.0 support. Other goodies include an integrated fingerprint reader and a massive 8 hours of battery life (considering its sleek chassis).

The ASUS 1018P will also come with the Intel Atom N455 (1.66GHz) or the Atom N475 (1.83GHz) processor, which support DDR3. Other specifications of the ASUS Eee PC 1018P include 1GB of RAM, 160GB/250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.

Sascha from netbooknews says that this may be the next bestseller particularly touching on its killer body and keyboard. Check out his hands-on video below.

Whew. Don’t forget that there are two other models being showcased by ASUS. The 1016P seems to be designed for business use with a more square like chassis. The chiclet keyboard and battery life remain the same though, as do most of the other features – aluminum body, fingerprint reader et al.

The 1015P is most similar to the 1005P, but comes with a matte finish display. Asus say the new update “combines new colours, finishes and textures with amazing energy efficiency”. The processor will also be the new Atoms which support DDR3.

Things just seem to keep getting better and better with ASUS. While the CES netbooks weren’t much to write home about, these 3 ones have us salivating.
