Samsung N110 Netbook Review
Samsung N110 Netbook Review - 6.25/7
The Samsung N110 is a 10-inch netbook offering the 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB HDD with the Windows XP operating system. It is sleekly designed with a slick black cover, red trims and a matte finish interior. The chassis is solid and durable. The N110 is not one of the lightest netbooks around, but at 3.4 lbs (including the charger) it didn’t put much strain on our shoulders either. Its predecessor – the NC10 was a definitive one at the time, and the N110 improves on it ever so slightly. The touchpad size has been increased and the battery life is now at a whopping 8+ hours. Add to this a neat little keyboard, and the N110 seems to be the complete package.
Samsung N110 Netbook Review – Top Features
- Great Design – Samsung have improved upon the N110′s predecessor in small ways, but they all combine to make it look a whole lot better. The glossy finish and reduced trim, in combination with an extremely solid build make the N110 one of the better designed netbooks.
- Keyboard – The N110 features a 93% sized board with a full shift key. The placement of the shift key right under the enter key makes this keyboard much more comfortable.
- Battery Life – This netbook is like the energizer bunny – it just keeps going on and on.
- Better than average speakers – Here’s a netbook that lets you actually listen to music on the speakers.
Samsung N110 Netbook Review – Drawbacks and things to keep in mind
- Performance – The N110 does not have any specifications outside the norm. It’s the same old Intel Atom N270, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB HDD. Which is not to say Samsung doesn’t utilize them better than most.
- No Mobile card slot – The lack of a slot means you can’t use the best mobile internet cards.
Samsung N110 Netbook Review -Ratings
- Price and Value for money – 1.0 Star. The N110 is available for $329.99 which is towards the lower band of netbook prices.
- Speed and Performance – 0.75 Star. As we said before, Samsung is able to get the most out of what one could say were average netbook specs.
- Screen – 1.0 Star. The N110′s screen is quite bright and provides adequate viewing at different angles. The 10- inch screen can be watched by two people comfortably.
- Keyboard, Touchpad, Useability – 0.75 Star. The keyboard is excellent, and the touchpad has been upgraded to a larger, easier to use design.
- Portability and Battery Life – 1.0 Star. With the battery on 50% brightness and CPU idle, the N110 lasts 11+ hours. Of course with normal activity, its around the 8-9 hour mark.
- Looks and Design – 1.0 Star. We love the tank style solidness of the N110. The trimming and glossy chassis give this machine a look of ruggedness and class at the same time.
- Connectivity and Extensibility – 0.75 Star. Features most of the ports one would require from a netbook.
This gives the Samsung N110 an overall rating of 6.25 out of 7 Stars.
Samsung N110 Netbook Review – Our Recommendation
The N110 is an improvement on its predecessor – the popular NC10. It has a great build, fantastic display and an awesome battery life. Many people have given this netbook the tag of the best one out there. We don’t want to try disputing them.
