Samsung N120 Netbook Review - 6.25/7

This is Samsung’s latest offering after the N110, and they basically stick to the same core specs and design while adding a few choice tweaks. The main difference between the twain is that the N120 has a larger chassis, which means that Samsung has been able to fit an almost full sized keyboard in there. They’ve also managed to fit in two front-facing speakers with a sub-woofer underneath the board. They’ve stuck to the sleek design of the N110, and incorporated a larger bezel around the screen which looks chunky but allows space for the speakers. Just like its predecessor, the N120 is a superb netbook.

• Solid Speakers – The volume on this netbook is loud, and surpasses any of its competitors.
• Sleek Design – Even though it features a larger keyboard, the weight and dimensions of the N120 are less than the 110. The white N120 looks particularly sweet.
• Fantastic Keyboard – The keyboard is 97% upto size and you won’t find a more comfortable one to type on. There’s a lot of space for resting your wrists as well.
• Long battery life – Samsung has loaded the N120 with a battery that lasts upto eight hours.

• Card Slot – The memory card slot is slightly off the money, as it doesn’t let the card be completely inserted.
• Poor Viewing Angles – Images start washing out if you raise your eye level by a few degrees.

Samsung N120 Netbook Review -Ratings

1. Price and Value for money – 1.0 Star. At its current price of $329, the N120 is a solid bet with great design, long lasting battery and above average speakers.
2. Speed and Performance – 0.75 Star. The N120 features the Intel Atom 270 CPU and performs quite decently. We had no problems running multiple browser windows, listening to music and syncing contacts.
3. Screen – 0.75 Star. The 1024×600 ten-inch screen means the N120 has a better resolution than most. The colors are bright and vibrant.
4. Keyboard, Touchpad, Useability – 1.0 Star. The N120 features a top-notch keyboard. The touchpad is larger than in the previous model.
5. Portability and Battery Life – 1.0 Star. This is a light netbook at 2.8lbs and its battery life is great.
6. Looks and Design – 1.0 Star. We really like Samsungs one-toned solid colors, and the slick exterior really looks awesome in white. The build quality is good as well.
7. Connectivity and Extensibility – 0.75 Star. The N120 features the the expected number and range of ports. The WiFi connectivity is about par with other netbooks.

This gives the N120 an overall rating of 6.25 out of 7 Stars.

Samsung N120 Netbook Review – Our Recommendation

The N120 improves on the N110 which was one of our favourite netbooks last year. This one is a winner as well because of its super sleek design, great speakers and long battery life. The performance is better than similar netbooks with the same specs. This one is a definite buy.
