This special edition is essentially a tweaked version of the original Samsung NC1O. You can buy the special edition NC10 for $490.

The main additions to the special addition are:

1. An anti-reflective screen
2. A larger touchpad
3. Increased battery life

Samsung NC10 Special Edition Review -Top Features

• Value for money - as part of a deal with Amazon, Samsung is offering this special edition  for an extra $40 only. The NC10 was already a bargain to begin with,and with the new fixes in place, the special edition offers great value for money.
• Previous features - Samsung have retained the qualities that made the original NC10 a winner in the first place; a decently sized screen [ 10.2" screen at 1024 x 600 resolution], good comfortable keyboard [ 93%  the size of normal keyboards] and the standard Netbook specs [Intel Atom N270 CPU, 160 GB HDD, 1GB RAM and Windows XP Home]. In addition, the Netbook has retained its sturdy chassis, ensuring it remains well protected.
• Reduced reflection - The new anti-reflection coating solves the problem of the excessive reflection produed by the original NC10.
• Larger touchpad - Samsung have produced a wider touchpad to replace the originally smaller one.
• Increased battery life - although the NC10’s  7 hour battery life was excellent to begin with, Samsung have gone one step  further and installed a larger  6 cell high capacity battery [ 5980 mAh] that boasts a 9.4 hour battery life! Impressive.

Samsung NC10 Special Edition Review -Drawbacks and things to look out for

• Design - of concern may be the hinges that open to a maximum of a 45 degree angle, so be careful not to push too far back.
• Touchpad - lacks multi-touch capability
• Speakers - Unimpressive; good for watching online music clips but not for high quality media [e.g.  movies]

2. Speed and Performance - .75 stars standard Intel Atom N270 processor.
3. Screen - 1.0 -  the ant-reflective screen signifcantly improves visibility .
4. Keyboard and Usability - 1.0 stars - great keyboard
5. Portability and Battery Life - 1.0 - small, light and an amazing batteyr life
6. Looks and Design - 1.0 stars  - nice professional look.
7. Connectivity & Extensibility - 1.0 stars - Has standard selection of  netbooks ports. Memory upgrade is easy, thanks to dedicated  single screw panel.

That gives the Samsung NC10-11PBK an impressive total of 6.75/7 stars.

Samsung NC10 Special Edition Review - Our Recommendation

This was already a winner, with a few minor faults that users would eventually get used to. To Samsung, it seems winning isn’t enough; perfection is their goal. But for only $40 extra, Samsung have decided to  fix the features that users and reviewers complained about.

With the new tweaks in place [the extended battery life and powerful processor life] ironing out the creases in the NC10, this is sure to make Samsung a favorite for a while yet.
