Sony Vaio M now available

Sony hasn’t really been at the forefront of the giant rise in netbook sales. A large factor that works against them is the price point that they have going. While most netbooks retail in the whereabouts of $300, the Vaio W series from Sony is about 50% more expensive.

The good news is that Sony is trying to fix this with their release of the Sony Vaio M series of netbooks (model name goes as Sony VPC-M…). Although both netbooks are almost identical, there is a significant difference in price. Where the price differential comes in though is the screen resolution. The W series has the higher 1366 x 768 pixel screen in comparision to the Vaio M’s more average 1024 x 600. The keyboard is also the normal one instead of the chiclet style.

The Vaio M runs on the new, more efficient Intel Atom N450. There is 1GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. The netbook is also finished in a matte style which we much prefer over the glossies.

The Vaio M is not yet available on amazon, but is on sale for $379.99 on TigerDirect.
