The budget netbook – Simmtronics Simmbook
The Simmtronics Simmbook has been around for a while, but the netbook has gotten a real push with IBM and Canonical coming on board to deliver a budget netbook for developing markets. When ASUS first launched the netbook, the vision was a stripped down version of a laptop that focused on reduced costs. Of course, nowadays its all about packing the most hardware into the smallest space you can.

Simmtronics will provide a spartan, last-generation configuration at the very frugal price of $190. Specs include the 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270, 1GB of RAM and a 10 inch 1024 x 600 display. To save costs, these netbooks will run Ubuntu and IBM will pre-install their Lotus suites. The Simmbooks will be tailored for business and targeted in the same manner. There’s word that they will be phased into the US and European markets at some point of time as well.
