Upgrade: ASUS Eee PC 1201PN announced
Another one of the announcements that ASUS made at the recently concluded CeBIT in Germany was that they’re coming out with an upgrade to their very popular ION-based 1201N. This will be called the 1201PN and will feature the more energy efficient Atom N450 processor, upping the battery life of the netbook.
The comparitively lower battery life of the 1201N is the only minor flaw in an otherwise excellent netbook, and ASUS are looking at fixing that. The 1201PN will also be equipped with the new generation of nVidia ION 2 chipsets for better graphics performance. nVidia also says that the new chipset will boost battery life significantly.

- Display: 12 inch 1366 x 768
- CPU: Intel Atom N450 processor 1.66 GHz
- Graphics: Nvidia ION 2 (will still be called simply “ION”) and HDMI Out
- RAM: 1GB
- Storage: 160GB HDD + 500GB online storage
- Wireless: 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
- Battery: 6-cell (battery life not announced)
There’s been no word on pricing, but we think it will be somewhere around existing model prices. We’ll bring you more information when it’s available.
