Windows 7 notches up fantastic sales record

For those of you who’ve read our past articles, you’d have noticed that our dislike of Windows Vista isn’t very….er subtle. We’ve termed it “Microsoft’s gigantic contribution to Apple’s advertising campaign.”Microsoft has taken the failure of

Vista to heart it seems, and come back with Windows 7 – an OS that’s garnered good reviews and thrashed Vista’s sales record by 234%. That’s no mean feat when you consider that Vista was launched in January, historically a much better month for sales than the October release of Windows 7.

Amazon claims that they received more pre-orders for Windows 7 than they did for the last instalment of the Harry Potter series back in 2007. Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s chief executive, said the response to Windows 7 had been “fantastic”.

We here at netbookreview.com were only more than happy to take the mickey out of Microsoft for delivering the dud that was Windows Vista, but we’re man enough to acknowledge that they’ve dusted themselves off, stepped back up to the plate and according to all indications delivered a home run.
